Is your home ready for summer
Hope you're enjoying the warmer weather and longer days. It's the perfect time of year to check in on your home and make sure everything's running smoothly, before summer BBQs, vacations, or those surprise repair bills sneak up on you.
Here are a couple of quick home tips and some insight from our inspection world, straight from the field:
What We’ve Been Seeing Lately
This month, we’ve run into quite a few clogged gutters and overloaded electrical panels. Nothing dramatic, but both are easy to overlook and can lead to bigger issues down the road.
Gutters: If yours haven’t been cleaned since last fall (be honest), now’s the time. Blocked gutters can cause water to back up into your roof or foundation. Not fun, and definitely not cheap to fix.
Electrical panels: If you’ve added new appliances, a hot tub, or even just more electronics over the years, your panel might be at its limit. An overloaded system is a safety risk. We always recommend having a licensed electrician check it out if you're unsure.
Home Tip of the Month: Check Your Dryer Vent
It’s not just about cleaning the lint trap! Over time, lint builds up inside the vent duct, which can become a fire hazard. InterNACHI recommends checking and cleaning the duct at least once a year. If the dryer takes longer to dry clothes, it could be a sign it’s time.
